Embark on a 45-minute boat ride from Drake Bay to the crystal-clear waters of the Caño Island Biological Reserve, a world-class snorkeling and diving destination about 12 miles offshore.
About Caño Island
- Covers 200 hectares (500 acres) of protected land and reef

Marine Life & Snorkeling
Visibility ranges from good to excellent, depending on weather and tides. In these reefs you can see:
- 19 coral species (including sea fans, brain & head corals)
- Manta rays, devil rays, sea turtles
- White- and black-tipped reef sharks
- Large schools of jackfish, parrotfish, snappers, barracuda, puffers, surgeonfish, tangs
- Eels, needlefish, sea urchins, sea cucumbers, octopus, starfish, and more
- Dolphins and whales on the boat ride to and from the island
You’ll snorkel at two different sites around the island with your guide, then enjoy lunch either at San Josecito beach on the mainland or at a local restaurant in town.
