About Corcovado

Known as “the crown jewel of Costa Rica’s rainforests” and “the most biologically intense place on Earth”, Corcovado is home to:

  • 400 bird species – scarlet macaws, toucans, harpy eagles
  • 140 mammals – jaguar, puma, tapir, monkeys, sloths, anteaters
  • 116 amphibians & reptiles – frogs, lizards, snakes, crocodiles
  • 500 tree species and over 6,000 insects

During your hikes you may see squirrel, spider, howler, and white-faced monkeys, two- and three-toed sloths, coatimundis, peccaries, crocodiles, toucans, owls, anteaters, butterflies, and much more.
